MET Goes Avant-Garde at the 2017 MET Gala

Not only is the first Monday of May the time where many whip out their favorite *NSYNC meme, but it is also the time fashion lovers everywhere sit behind their screens and watch the red carpet of the infamous MET Gala. Since this was my first year living in New York on this very important day - as I have followed the MET Gala for years now - I felt as though I was there even though I was in the library working on an essay rather than on Fifth Avenue. Nonetheless, as I kept refreshing my social media, waiting for more pictures to come up on my feed, I couldn't help but feel disappointed in the fashion this year.

'War Paint' Brings Audiences 1920s Luxury

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity of attending the Broadway musical, War Paint, and not only was the storyline intriguing and one of feminism, but the COSTUMES! Let's just say that I have never been more jealous of the performers on the stage (besides their impeccable talent) since they got to wear such adorable outfits. Honestly, a piece of me wishes I lived during the Roaring 20s because the fashion at the time was just so extraordinary.

Who Shined the Brightest at the 2017 Oscars?

Of all the years in Oscar history, this awards season had to have been the year where the fashion game was so on top. I am literally shook from looking at all of the photos from the red carpet. Although there were some who did not impress *cough* Dakota Johnson *cough* but overall, everyone looked SO nice at the awards ceremony. However, it was clear that the fashion of the night outSHINED (ha, get it?) everything, even the little slip-up of who won Best Picture (sorry La La Land) Now let's get into it and pretend we're guest stars on Fashion Police...

Hello & Welcome

Hello everyone!!

I thought I would give a greater introduction in case any of you were wondering who is the girl behind this blog and let you know a little more about me (considering I share so much about my life already)

Growing up in sunny Southern California, I was surrounded by fashion everywhere. Whether it be the crazy jewelry my godmother donned or seeing trendy fashionistas walk the streets of Los Angeles, it was clear that my future career path would have to do something with fashion. I remember one time my godmother gave me a notebook and colored pencils and I would always draw my own clothing sketches or clip out outfits that celebrities wore in the latest issue of People magazine. From a young age, I have just been obsessed.

When I realized that my artistic skills weren't cutting it to be a fashion designer one day, I was stumped - I didn't know what to do. Luckily, around that time, my 8th grade English teacher assigned us a project to try and figure out what kind of career we could see ourselves doing. That is where I discovered fashion journalism. I realized I could combine my two passions in life: writing and fashion to create a career of my dreams.

Now as I hustle and maintain my motivation in college, I know that my goal to be a fashion journalist is stronger now than ever before, but it does have its slight adjustments (because as we grow, we are always changing our minds of course) so even though I still want to work in the field of fashion journalism, especially work for a fashion magazine one day,  I realized I want to utilize my interests in graphic design and photography as well. It wouldn't be a career for me if I was just writing for the rest of my life. Honestly, I've discovered that my dream job would be to become the Creative Director of a fashion magazine (or any magazine really) and maybe even Editor-In-Chief even though they both have busy and hectic career lifestyles, but I know I would be ready for them (when the time comes of course)

As I continue finding my way towards reaching my career goal, I hope to use this blog to continue gaining greater experience and to become a better writer along the way and I hope you will enjoy following me along this journey x it's only just the beginning

Until next time...

Rain Room | LACMA

I am sure you all know that I have done a fair share of museum visits, ranging from lacma to the broad and even the met in nyc, I would consider myself a museum connoisseur (well kind of) so when I got the email from lacma saying that tickets for the rain room have been released, I knew I had to jump on that opportunity. I have been wanting to go to the rain room for over a year now after many failed attempts at getting tickets so I was ecstatic when I finally got tickets, especially since the exhibit is supposed to close at the end of the month.
