Who Shined the Brightest at the 2017 Oscars?

Of all the years in Oscar history, this awards season had to have been the year where the fashion game was so on top. I am literally shook from looking at all of the photos from the red carpet. Although there were some who did not impress *cough* Dakota Johnson *cough* but overall, everyone looked SO nice at the awards ceremony. However, it was clear that the fashion of the night outSHINED (ha, get it?) everything, even the little slip-up of who won Best Picture (sorry La La Land) Now let's get into it and pretend we're guest stars on Fashion Police...

COLORS:
Overall, the colors tended to be on the more neutral side, with a lot of white, grey, black, and GOLD! (Which makes sense since you're at the Oscars of course) I did notice that some wore red, such as Viola Davis in Armani Privé, but overall, the stars this year chose to remain on the more neutral side, which is a nice change from the past when celebrities wore bright pink or other bright colors.

NECKLINES:
There were a variety of necklines seen on the red carpet - high, sweetheart, strapless, halter - but, I did notice there were more dresses with long sleeves, like Chrissy Teigen's Zuhair Murad look (btw didn't her and John Legend look AMAZING!?) All of the stars kept their attire looking classy and elegant, which fits the theme of the Oscars ceremony since they it is an icon of Old Hollywood.

SILHOUETTES:
This year, I noticed more stars choosing to do an A-Line or Ballgown silhouette rather than a mermaid or sheath style, which has been popular in years past. Of all the dresses, I have to admit that my favorite silhouette had to be Auli'i Cravalho's dress by Rubin Singer. She looked absolutely stunning and the A-Line skirt perfectly accented her and the train made her look like an actual princess.

MATERIALS:
It is so obvious what the stars were going for this year - SHINY! From beading to sequence to metallic material, everyone had a glow to them, which was perfect for the glitziest night of the year. I actually really liked this trend because typically when I think of shiny, I think of sequined bags you get from Justice, but the stars made it work. The detailing on some of the dresses was so gorgeous, especially the geometric embellishments on Nicole Kidman's Armani Privé dress.

BEST DRESSED OF THE NIGHT:
In my opinion, the best dressed of the night had to have been Hailee Steinfield who wore Ralph and Russo! She looked absolutely gorgeous and I felt like she belonged in a forest as a fairy princess or something. From the opalescent color to the floral embellishments, she looked stunning. I also really loved the high neckline and sleeveless top - right on trend as well as complementing her really nicely. Especially for such a young actress/singer, she definitely stepped up her game and proved she can hang with the big dogs, which is pretty impressive. You go Hailee Steinfield!

As the night dwindled down and the stars went home with their awards, those who did not can be proud of their accomplishment of looking amazing on the red carpet (unless you're Dakota Johnson). I wonder what trends will show up at the 2018 Oscars...I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Until next time...
