Chuck & Pat Guidry

1955: the year Walt Disney opened the amusement park Disneyland, Rosa Parks was arrested for her refusal to sit in the back of a bus, but we cannot forget that on July 23, Chuck & Pat Guidry embarked on their new journey as newlyweds! Fast forward 60 years and 8 children, 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren (+1 on the way!) later they are still as silly and in love as they were when they were young adults! In honor of them celebrating their Diamond anniversary, it would only seem right to post the photos from the photoshoot I was able to do with them!

It's so crazy to think that two people could be in love for over 60 years, especially now in society where we hear more about people getting divorced than making it to 10 years! My grandparents will always be my "relationship goals" because they have been able to stand each other's quirks throughout all these years. I only hope to one day find someone who I can spend 60+ years with!

I will never forget, at one point I had them both look at each other in the eyes and the first thing my grandpa said to my grandma was, "I didn't know you have blue eyes!" I couldn't tell if he was joking or not, but either way it was so cute and hilarious! Going into the photoshoot, I made a Pinterest board with poses that I wanted to do and s/o to them for being so cooperative with me as I tried to mimic the photos the best I could do! Luckily, their spirits were so lively throughout the shoot it helped make everything a wonderful experience.

I am so honored to be the granddaughter of such loving, funny, caring (the list could go on and on) individuals and I wish them the best on their anniversary!

Here's to 60 more ;-)

Until next time...

San Fran Trip

I finally got the chance to go through my photos from my day in San Francisco and was able to pick out some of my favorites!

San Francisco is a beautiful city! We did a girls' weekend: my mom, grandma, and I for the One Direction concert in Santa Clara and we decided to spend the day in San Fran. It was so much fun!

We had all been before so we didn't do THAT many touristy things, but we did go to Pier 39, which unfortunately had no sea lions, and then we walked around Fisherman's Wharf and of course had to get some sweets from Ghirardelli Square :-) Highly recommend their dark chocolate with sea salt and almonds, so good!

I really love San Francisco because you can get that NYC vibe but there is just something special about it, could be the people or the looming smell of fish since you're right on the water hehe :-) You can get to all of your destinations by walking and get an added workout because of all the hills! Although we didn't get to walk the Golden Gate Bridge or visit the Full House house, it was still a pretty fun day.

If you haven't had the chance to visit San Francisco, then I highly suggest you do! It is so beautiful and the weather is absolutely amazing!! But before you leave, you HAVE to visit Boudin Bakery! Their sourdough bread is the best! You'll have to get two loaves though, one for home and one for the car ride ;-)

Until next time...

Lauren Guidry

I am always up for doing a photoshoot, whether that's behind the camera or in front of it! My cousin Lauren decided to come hang out with me for the weekend and we wanted to do a dance photoshoot! I had never done one before, so I was a little nervous that I'd be able to get the shots perfectly.

My original plan was to shoot it at a local state park since I've seen some friends take pictures there before and they had turned out really nice, but it definitely was a struggle since I did not realize how big the park actually was and I felt uncomfortable going to a place I had never been before. We ended up going to a different park and shooting on the grassy hill behind it, and all I have to say is THANK GOD FOR BEAUTIFUL LIGHTING! The sun really was on our side that afternoon, especially since it was at peak heat level! Luckily, it didn't start getting really hot until we were leaving, but there was sweating to say the least!

When I was planning for what she would wear, I wanted something flowy so as she did her dance moves, the fabric would drape off of her and it would look amazing. Turns out, she didn't have any dresses so I let her borrow one of mine from Daisy Shoppe! Although the dress was big on her, it ended up working out just fine.

BTW HOW GORGEOUS IS MY COUSIN OMG s/o to Lauren for being my guinea pig for this shoot, I am so proud to be your cousin and you are so stunning! She recently just started her own blog so make sure to give it some love :-) You can check out her blog here! My overall experience with this shoot was really positive and I am so happy with the way the photos turned out :-)

I can't wait to take more pictures in the future!

Until next time...

Concert Outfit Ideas

With the One Direction concert coming up (3 DAYS AHH) I thought I would share some of my favorite concert outfit ideas if you are stuck trying to decide on what to wear to your upcoming concert. The one thing I like about concerts is that the possibilities are endless when choosing what to wear! You can choose to go on the fancier side or more casual and you still look like you fit in! Well, I'm pretty sure if you show up in an evening gown with stilettos, you will get some looks, but if that's what you want to wear then you do you!

I came up with FOUR (hehe get it) outfit ideas, two more casual and two that dress you up a little bit, that will hopefully spark your inspiration! Lately I have been using Polyvore A LOT because you can plan outfits with their large selection of clothes/accessories and have them saved so you can go back whenever you want :-) The thing you have to be careful with is something may look cute, but it could be $100+ so unfortunately I did not keep track of the prices for these outfits, but these are supposed to be more inspirational so it works out in the end.

One thing I do recommend is for you to be comfortable in what you're wearing, you don't want to have to constantly pull down your dress because you're afraid the person behind you can see your booty or you don't want to wake up the next morning with blisters all over your feet from your new pair of shoes (trust me, I did it not once but TWICE and still question myself on why) When going to a concert, you should try and look nice, but the most important thing is to have a good time listening to your favorite artist!

LIVELY & BRIGHT // CLASSY OUTFIT I
Solid Green Short Sleeve Lace A Line Dress - $20 rosewe.com
Saint Laurent Leather Sandals - $395 mytheresa.com
Aeropostale Dream Catcher Short-Strand Necklace - $7 aeropostale.com
CC Skye The Elite Double Horn Wrap Necklace - $118 pinkmascara.com

For this outfit I wanted something a little more colorful, so I went with this emerald green A-line dress. I love the lace print on it because it brings a more vintage vibe without looking like a grandmother's table cloth. Can we please talk about the color of this dress!? It is so fun and summery! If green is not your color, then you can go with any other color that suits your preference! When I wear bold clothing items, such as a dress like this one, I prefer to go with more neutral accessories, so I paired the dress with simple chestnut sandals. For jewelry, I chose to layer necklaces, since that is my new favorite thing to do and I found these gold necklaces and it looks like the stone matches the dress which is perfect! For my hair, I would go with it down, either curly or straight!
GIRLY & CUTE // CLASSY OUTFIT II
OASIS Lace Insert Playsuit - $39 oasis-stores.com
TOPSHOP FELINE Ankle Tie Sandals - $65 topshop.com
Liz Claiborne White Stone Gold-Tone Bib Statement Necklace - $38 jcpenney.com

For this outfit, I thought a romper could be a fun touch to an outfit since you wouldn't have to worry about pulling down anything, but you still get to dress up a little bit. I chose this romper because the coral color is perfect for the summer season and the little peek-a-boo of lace adds a girly touch. I found the white ankle tie sandals and thought they would go nicely with the romper, it adds a more casual vibe to the outfit. Since the top of the romper is pretty simple, a statement necklace is the perfect touch! I found this white one, like I previously mentioned, I choose neutral accessories so for this outfit, I went with white. To make sure you don't look too busy up on top, a top knot or even a messy bun would be the perfect finish to the outfit, plus you wouldn't have to worry about your hair sticking to your sweaty neck from dancing so much!
CASUAL & COOL // CASUAL OUTFIT I
White I'm With The Band Roll Sleeve T-Shirt - $12 newlook.com
Vintage 90s Light Blue Wash High-Waisted Rise Cut Offs Cuffed Rolled Jean Shorts - $35 etsy.com
Pieces Black Leather Sara Flat Sandals - $64 asos.com
Ray Ban Sunglasses - $123 ray-ban.com

Of all four outfits, I thought this one is the most stereotypical concert outfit, you've got your band tee and high-waisted shorts, what else do you need? I did switch up the shoes and instead of Converse/Vans, I went with these cute black sandals from ASOS. If you couldn't tell, I'm sort of obsessed with sandals that wrap around your ankle hehe If you're going to a summer concert, you'll obviously need your favorite pair of sunglasses! To complete this look, you can style your hair pretty much however you want. I thought tousled/messy waves would be the cherry on top for this outfit!
DISTRESSED BUT WELL DRESSED // CASUAL OUTFIT II
Mango Patch Pocket T-Shirt, Natural White - $28 johnlewis.com
Genetic Los Angeles Gia Distressed Boyfriend Jeans - $270 modaoperandi.com
Charlotte Russe Black Bamboo Belted Lug Sole Booties - $38 charlotterusse.com
Miss Selfridge Long Layer Semi-Precious Necklace - $13 missselfridge.com
Double Chevron Ring - $15 gogolush.com

Now this one would probably have to be my favorite of the four! I'm all for being comfortable at concerts and with the boyfriend tee jeans, you know that your only worry would be to have a good time instead of making sure your outfit is where it's supposed to be. I absolutely LOVE the shoes for this outfit! There's a Charlotte Russe by my house so I just might need to stop there the next time I'm out hehe Most people prefer not to wear shoes with a heel to concerts because you'll be standing for a long period of time but the short, chunky heel on this shoe should not cause too many problems and for those that are shorter, a little heel can ensure you won't be blocked by the person in front of you! I found these really delicate layered necklaces which goes nicely with the chevron ring. To finish the outfit, I would either go with tousled waves or your favorite hairstyle!

I will definitely be posting on what I end up choosing to wear for my upcoming concert so stay tuned to see if I decide to go casual or dressy!

Until next time...

Different Colors

When I was given the opportunity to do a powder shoot with my friend Anjali, it was too hard to resist! Although, I was hesitant at first because I was afraid that the powder would stain my skin and my clothes (such a silly reason tbh) BUT I am so glad that I went through with it!

The first time Anjali and I went out, it was 1:00 in the afternoon, and we were not prepared! After the 15-minute walk under the blazing sun, we reached the location, a "Redwood Grove." I didn't even know it existed, especially since we live in Southern California where there is little to no rain, but alas we finally found the hidden forest only to realize that Anjali left her SD card at home! We didn't want to waste the time so we tried our best with an iPhone camera (not pictured above) but we definitely knew we wanted to come back...

Fast forward a couple of weeks and we finally got the chance to return to the beautiful Redwood Grove! This time we went at golden hour so the walk was definitely not as bad and I am amazed at how the pictures turned out! I'm in love! Working with powder was an experience I will never forget, especially being able to use a variety of vibrant colors AND the best part was that it didn't stain my clothes OR my skin :-)

For the shoot, I wore a baby blue A-line dress from Old Navy. I wanted to go simple because we were in a nature setting and it just so happened the color of the dress worked perfectly with the colors of the powder!

I can't wait for more shoots like this in the future!

Until next time...

Hi guys! Lately I've been getting really into taking pictures with my camera, since I finally learned how to properly take a photo on a DSLR hehe... Goodbye to the days of Auto and hello to Manual! Although I would definitely not consider myself even remotely close to the expertise that some of my friends have, it's still been fun getting out there and trying new things. I am definitely inspired by my friends and their AMAZING photography skills! Seriously, Anjali and Christine, if you're reading this, thank you for inspiring me to appreciate photography and all of the skills that are involved! You guys are the best!

If you are interested in seeing my photo adventures, I'll have them logged under "KELLYxPHOTO" in the navigation bar, so make sure to check them out!
